Microsoft Teams: Audio Input output Troubleshooting
print icon

In Microsoft Teams, you may encounter an issue involving the audio coming into your computer via a microphone (input) and the audio coming out of your computer (output). This guide will help with troubleshooting in both of these areas in your computer's general settings and Microsoft Teams (click here to view the Microsoft Teams audio settings instructions).

Audio Settings: Computer's General Settings

1. Click on the  icon on the bottom left corner of your screen. Click the   icon to open the Windows Settings window

2. Click the  button and click on the  section.

3. This section will allow you to test your computer's speakers (output) and microphone (input) to ensure you are using the correct source of audio. Click on each dropdown menu in their respective sections to test the audio. Output can be tested by sliding the Master volume slider right and left. If you hear audio, that means it is the correct source. Input can be tested by seeing if a blue bar is displaying on the 'Test your microphone' section. If you do not see a blue bar, try changing the input device in the dropdown menu.

Once you're finished, this should also change your audio settings on Microsoft Teams as well. If this is not the case, we will demonstrate how to change your audio settings in Microsoft Teams below:

Audio Settings: Microsoft Teams Settings

1. During your meeting, click on the top right of the Microsoft Teams window. Click on  to open the audio/visual settings.

2. In your audio settings, change the speaker and microphone settings to make sure you have incoming and outgoing audio. Click on the dropdown menu for each setting to test out your settings until they are correct.
